Newsletter March 2026
I’ve been spending a lot of time in this place, next to the water. Mostly just enjoying the sound of the water and familiarity of it all.
Many indigenous cultures use what is called a sit spot. A place a person visits every day and just sits. Getting to know the land intimately and the creatures that live there. Over time you begin to notice the tiny changes. A plant that was just a bud yesterday is now a flower today. A patch of grass that seemed dull a week ago is now vibrant and growing. The couple of rabbits that scarper on my approach seem to have multiplied over night! And you get to meet the unchanging - The blackbird with a white feather on its left wing, singing from what seems to be its favourite branch. The rock in the stream, still being smoothed by the passing water.
Some days I spend 10 minutes here, some days hours. It’s my sanctuary, and we all need a sanctuary to retreat to.
For me, my sit spot is out in Nature, but for you, your sit spot could be at our Yoga class.
I’m hoping our Yoga classes are a sanctuary for you, just as my sit spot is for me. A place that feels welcome, a place you can relax, just be and find some peace and calm. Where you can let go of life for a while and take refuge.
Although I’ve been offering our Yoga classes for many years (it’s coming up to 15 years!) it dawned on me whilst gazing into that stream, that you may not know what lies beneath the surface of these classes. Why I do what I do, what I hope to offer and bring to you all. So I thought I would share with you snippets from my website as I feel that’s the best place where I have actually wrote all of this down!
If you have been coming along to class for a while, you may not have looked at the website - why would you - you know when the classes are and where - but there is more on there than you might think…
I think it would be useful for everyone to know what you are stepping into when you come along to class with me - there is reason behind all of it! Even the pose that we are practicing at the moment that as Denica shared - ‘is like patting your tummy and rubbing your head’ haha. Love it! This pose btw, I think you have all come a million miles with and are now flowing pretty much straight into albeit a few wobbles here and there!
Still plenty of weeks to refine it yet. I hope you’re all enjoying our Spring Yoga theme so far and the routine of being back at Werrington. It was an upheaval at the time but I think it’s actually been worth our while as they now have a modern heating system where the temperature can be programmed in for each individual class that is held there. Our Yoga classes have been the perfect temperature since we returned. No more worries about arriving to a cold hall, it’s warm as soon as we get there which is great!

Coming up.
Just a few spaces left on our ‘From Root to Crown’ Yoga and herbal medicine workshopwith Charlotte from Homestead Herbal in Leek. The session is on 22nd March at 11am at Cheddleton Community Centre. More details can be found below.
Our Pregnancy Yoga course is nearly complete. I’ve been dreaming into how to support Mum’s more fully, especially new Mums. This uncharted terrain for Women can be tough, I know it was tough for me, so I’d like to offer some support here. I’m thinking a workshop day where we cover pregnancy Yoga and also postnatal yoga to help with birth and pregnancy recovery, baby massage so you have some tools and techniques at hand to use from birth and also I’m hoping to invite a breastfeeding specialist in so you can get confident and comfortable with feeding knowledge before baby arrives. If it sounds like something you or someone you know would be interested in, please let me know.
Sending lots of Happy Mother’s Day wishes to all the Mums out there! It’s not an easy job that’s for sure. We are often the glue that holds everything together. I hope you manage to take some time
for yourself this weekend and let someone look after you.
Our next Earth School Staffordshire Moorlands session is on Saturday 25th April 1.30pm - 3pm at Wetley Rocks VH. Here are some words from our Wisdom Keepers for the event - Laura Heath and Nicola Herd.
We warmly invite you to join us for a nourishing afternoon of dance, movement, relaxation and embodied exploration.
Together we will create a welcoming space to gently shake off the winter cobwebs, awaken our senses and move with the natural rhythms of life: rediscovering the simple joy of being fully at home in our bodies.
Throughout the session you will be sensitively guided as we explore the energy of the seasons through music, imagination and movement. Invitations and creative prompts will be offered to support you in experimenting with how your body wishes to move. This is not about getting it “right”; it is about moving your way, at your pace, to your own inner rhythm. There will be space for spontaneity, curiosity, connection and fun.
We offer a grounding, intuitive and embodied approach to movement, encouraging participants to listen deeply to their bodies, trust their impulses and find confidence in authentic expression. Our facilitation supports both gentle exploration and joyful release.
The session will unfold as a cyclical journey through the seasons, with music and movement suggestions reflecting the qualities of each one. We will begin and end in Winter, returning to your personal “nest”; a cosy space for rest, reflection and integration. Please bring blankets and yoga mats if you have them.
Creative expression will also be part of the experience, offering an opportunity to bring your seasonal journey to life through colour and simple art-making.
Wear comfortable clothing that you enjoy moving in.
This session is open to families, and individual adults from the Earth School community are also very welcome. We hope to see you there.
