Yesterday saw our last class with our Surya Namaskar theme. Thank you to those who have shown up week after week and seen this one through. I know it’s been a challenge! And you’ve done it! I hope you’re feeling super proud of yourselves and feeling stronger and more powerful than ever as that’s what the Sun’s energy is all about - growth, strength, determination, will power and focus.

The next 6 week evening Yoga theme is some what different! I asked the Thursday class if they wanted to focus on anything particular and pelvic floor came up - something I’ve worked with a lot through my own personal journey of becoming a Mother and also something I’ve shared with countless women through pregnancy and postnatal Yoga.

We often think about women when we talk about the pelvic floor but in fact pelvic floor exercises are just as important for men and ALL women regardless of if you have had children or not.
The health and strength of the pelvic floor sits beside the health and strength of the back and abdominal muscles. You can’t have one without the other and vice versa.

In the Yogic tradition, the Muladhara chakra is intricately connected with this part of the body. It is the root. The energy centre where our feelings of stability, safety and ability to be grounded live.
It is the foundation point for all the other chakras. If this one is not in tip top condition it will be impossible to get balance and wellness in the higher chakras. Having strong roots is important! So this will be our focus over the coming weeks. Feel free to come along any week and join us for this exploration and remember we also have our daytime class at Dilhorne every Thursday at 11.30am which you can pop along to also.

We are near the end of our Pregnancy Yoga 5 week course. I’ve loved sharing the past Sunday evenings with this wonderful group of women! I was going to take a break over August as I thought many would be away on holiday but it seems a lot of the women who have come along have loved the course that much that they want to do it all again and don’t want to wait until September. If you would like the next 5 week Pregnancy Yoga course to begin in August please let me know. If we have enough women, I’ll make it happen!

Lammas is on the horizon which means our next Following the Flow - Yoga to connect to the seasons is not that far away. We meet on Friday 1st August 7pm - 9pm at Ipstones Memorial Hall or maybe in the woods if the weather is warm and dry, to explore this Earth festival which is the first of 3 harvests. Out and about I’m starting to notice the signs of late Summer appearing. The nights are gently drawing in, blackberries are ripening, and conkers and acorns are forming. If you love Nature and Yoga this one is for you. Come and join us to see how to live a more cyclical life to enhance your feelings of well-being and find deeper nature connection. Full details are below.

Our first year of Earth School Staffordshire Moorlands is complete and I’m feeling into how this initiative may evolve. If you came along to any sessions or you’ve been a Wisdom Keeper for us and have feedback you wish to share please get in touch. I’d love to hear your thoughts and what sessions you would like to see in the future from Earth School. I’m also on the scout for new Wisdom Keepers for the upcoming academic year. If you have a gift and knowledge to share that you feel everyone should know about as it enhances the well-being of us humans and our beautiful Earth then please do let me know. There is a monetary exchange for your time and energy and full support from me in letting the local community know about what you offer. All the details and the idea behind Earth School Staffordshire Moorlands can be found on my website https://www.lovelightyoga.co.uk/earth-school-staffordshire-moorlands

I’m also looking ahead to next year’s Yoga retreats. Would you like to join us for a weekend of wellness?? If so, please get in touch so I can gauge interest. I’m thinking January or February time in the Derbyshire Dales, June or July in Wales and September or October in the Peak District. If it sounds like something you’d be interested in, please let me know so we can start looking at dates.
