Newsletter July 2025

What a Summer we are having. Glorious weather, warm, balmy days and still, quiet evenings. It feels like we’ve been in the season of Summer for so long already and we’ve only just arrived at July!

I really have to keep reminding myself to soak in this time of year and keep finding pockets of time to notice the beauty.  Lifting my head up out of the busyness to stop and take it all in. And when I’ve heeded to this, I’ve felt so much better. There’s been a deep ‘ahhh’, a dropping down, a soothing of my Soul. And then I think, why haven’t I done this sooner?! Why, haven’t I taken some time out to sit and rest and soak it all in.
Yes, always a lesson to learn and old habits to break. ‘Doing’ rather than ‘being’ is one habit I always have to keep a check on. It runs deep through my ancestry and of course we have social conditioning to contend with - ‘busyness means progress’, ‘rest is laziness’ and our attention from the present moment constantly being stolen from us by social media and consumerism.

Balance is key. When we are busy, take time to rest. To the practical side of the brain, this seems counter productive, but we will be able to go about our ‘work’ from a much healthier, happy and stable place if we can manage this balancing act. In our evening Yoga classes, we’ve been balancing out the heat and fire of our Surya Namaskar practice with the element of water. Weaving water through our Yoga in the form of Jal Mudra which supports the cooling of the body, guided meditations where we bathe or meet with a body of water or blue cooling energy, and wave like movements through the body and breath with Ujjayi pranayama. I hope you’ve been enjoying the explorations of Sun Salutations so far and seeing a little snippet of my own personal sadhana (daily practice). Here are a few of the many benefits you can receive through a Surya Namaskar flow:

- Removes toxic waste from your cells and tissues
- Improves flexibility in your joints and muscles
- Integrates all the different functions and systems in your body and restore your mind/body coordination.
- Has a balancing effect on all three Doshas (linked to Ayurveda).
- Strengthens the muscular, cardiovascular and metabolic systems.
- It improve mind/body coordination.

- Integrates the mind, body and breath.
- Surya Namaskar lubricates the joints, conditions the spine and strengthens every major muscle group in the body.
- It creates balance, stability, suppleness and flexibility.

Thats quite an impressive list! If you join me in practicing your Surya Namaskar every morning, let me know. I’d love to hear what benefits you've received.

Our new daytime Yoga class is going well. It’s been lovely to meet some new people and also lovely to offer a slightly different style of Yoga. ‘Slow and steady’ is the inspiration behind this offering. Encouraging deep body awareness through holding asanas for longer and moving at a slower pace. I’m really enjoying offering this! It’s a lovely wind down from the week.

Our Pregnancy Yoga classes are also going well. We have 3 weeks left in the course then I’ll be releasing new dates for the Autumn. If you’re interested in joining us, please let me know and I’ll keep you posted with the Autumn dates.

Can you believe that we have nearly completed our first academic year of Earth School Staffordshire Moorlands! We have our last session tomorrow - Bush craft & Primitive Skills. There’s still time to join us, if you like. Then we take a little break in August and relaunch in September with a few changes ahead, that I hope you’ll like….

We have some big changes coming up in our household as my oldest Son prepares to head off to high school in September. I’m feeling all the feels as he works his way through his final days of Primary School, but he’s taking it all in his stride and is as cool as a cucumber! Due to this there are some classes I can’t make due to leavers assemblies, end of year award ceremonies and high school inductions. Please do take a look at the dates below and make a note in your diary.
