Stories from the land.
Nature sightings and connections over the past week. What have you spotted out in Nature. I’d love to hear and share in our next newsletter!
Let me tell you a story about a tatty winged butterfly… once upon a Wednesday evening a Yoga teacher was minding her own business watering her garden. She spotted two small tortoiseshell butterflies dancing with each other in the air. They came to land on a beach tree leaf and showed their love for one another. The Yoga teacher felt she should give them some privacy but had never seen the act of love between two butterflies before and was mesmerised. She looked in awe at the butterflies. One with pristine wings, deeply coloured, glinting in the sunlight and the other butterfly who looked like they had weathered some storms! Their wings tatty and faded from the Sun. After some time, the butterflies departed from the leaf and my gazing eyes and carried on their dance in the sky. The Yoga teacher carried on watering her garden, feeling grateful to have witnessed such an act.
The next day, the Sun was shining - it was the perfect weather to dry the washing so the Yoga teacher set about hanging her leggings on the line. Next to her washing line stands a Buddleia - big, purple, cone shaped flowers attracting in a mass of butterflies. She paused and watched and took her camera to take some photos of the Peacock butterflies that seem to dominate, for she loves to capture moments of beauty in Nature.
Out of no where, she held her breath as one butterfly landed on her arm. It sat still and calm, it stayed there for a moment or two. The Yoga teacher gasped as she realised it was the tatty winged butterfly from the day before! She would recognise those ragged wings anywhere!
Then off it went. The magical moment over.
The Yoga teacher smiled and carried the sense of awe through the rest of her day.
Thank you tatty winged butterfly for touching my heart and reminding me that even the small, delicate looking creatures are strong and can weather the storms.
