Newsletter October 2025

How beautiful are the colours out there at the moment. Reds, golden browns, treacle and burnt oranges. The trees are really putting on a show for  us! It’s almost like they are saying ‘keep the fire burning, hold on to the warmth!’ as they surround us all with these warming colours as the Sun wanes.

And that’s what we have been doing in our evening Yoga classes - anchoring into asana that keep the Agni strong - our digestive fire - and looking at ways that our Yoga practice can support us through this transitional season of Autumn.

Spring and Autumn are both tricky seasons to navigate when it comes to our immune system. These are the two times of the year we are more susceptible to picking up coughs and cold and other nasties. Luckily there are lots of ways we can naturally strengthen our immune system both on our Yoga mat and ways from Nature to keep us feeling well and healthy and able to enjoy this time of year.

As well as keeping our inner fire burning, Nature is  also showing us that it is time to let go. To tie up loose ends, to clear and cleanse and really bump up rest and self care on our priority list - another way to keep well and healthy through the Autumn and Winter.

I’ve been following Natures lead - although it’s not been easy… with letting go there is always a sadness, a grief.

We completed our Guerrilla Gratitude Group on the last day of September and I’ve missed it. We created a container where so many personal moments were shared. We all showed up real. Holding up our hands when things felt tough and celebrating when moments of magic were spotted. It was special and I’ll treasure the experience.

I’ve also decided to let go of the online evening classes. Letting go does not come easy to me. I hold on to the last thread until the feeling in my heart is so clear that my whole body just resists the ‘idea’ and even then I question it! ‘But what if….’, ‘who will I be letting down’ ‘what if I regret it?’ All these questions come up in my mind but the body really does know best - I’ve learnt this the hard way over the years. I’m going to miss seeing my online Yogis on a Monday night but hoping the classes have served them well over the past 5 years since they started during covid.

We have also completed our ‘Escape to the Hills’ Yoga retreat. We returned last Sunday fresh from a full weekend of Yoga, relaxation and connection. Something magical always happens on retreats. I always come back slightly changed. I think it’s having the time and space to really open up, share our stories and to feel. There’s always a grief when we have to pack up, say our goodbyes and step back out into the World. Another retreat complete and hopefully another group of women feeling well rested and having tools to be able to navigate the months ahead with some ease.

The letting go has not been confined to my Yoga either - I’ve just come to the end of a 5 day cleanse - no sugar (which is a big one for me!), no caffeine, no dairy, no alcohol, just a simple diet of Kitcheree and vegetables. By day 5 I was ready to introduce some variety back into my diet! Not so much grief to see this one complete but glad for the motivation to do it and stick with it knowing how important the right cleanse is for our digestive system and our immune system. Ayurveda recommends two cleanses per year - one in the Spring and one in the Autumn.

With all this letting go and completion, I can now focus my energy on the projects that feel good and right - one of them being Following the Flow - our next evening is coming up on Friday 31st October where we explore the energies of Samhain and our ancestors. You can find the details for this below.
And another project that is feeling good and right is Earth School Staffordshire Moorlands. This initiative has been born from a really good place of wanting to ‘be the change we wish to see’. Please do come along and support our events.

We have our next session this coming Friday 17th October and I would love to see you there. All are welcome - adults and children alike. Here’s a little bit about what we have in store and here’s the link to read about the idea behind Earth School Staffordshire Moorlands…
