Newsletter August 2025
I hope you’re all enjoying the late Summer vibes. Our dogs have been enjoying rolling around in the golden fields, we’ve been enjoying the juicy blackberries and finding what I think are the biggest acorns we’ve ever seen!
I keep getting sniffs of Autumn on the air and with it September and the start back to school is now not that far away.
With the new academic year nearly here, plans for Earth School Staffordshire Moorlands are being released. I’m excited to share that the doors are opening even wider from this September to welcome the WHOLE community! This offering is no longer just for families - everyone is welcome to come and learn with us!
One of the main points from the feedback received was that people with no children had an interest in the sessions but couldn’t come along as children had grown up and left home or they were living a child free life so I now invite the Wisdom Keeper to select their audience so there will be sessions just for adults, just for families and for everyone. I’m hoping it helps to make the initiative more inclusive and allows the learning on offer to spread its roots even further.
So if you’ve discounted Earth School in the past, as you’ve not fitted into the ‘family’ category here is a little reminder of what it’s about and who it is for….
If you’re a person who wants to make a difference in this World, who sees the need for change with greater care for the Earth, Self and well-being placed at the centre of life then come and join us and learn from our Wisdom Keepers. We meet once a month through the academic year, gathering as individuals and families to learn about an array of subjects from community allotment planting, the night sky and constellations and river health to self care, sound healing and herbal medicine. We aim to enrich our children and ourselves through knowledge and hands on experiences that are passed from one human to another.
Earth School Staffordshire Moorlands seeks out local people who specialise in their field and invite them to come and share with our group so we can grow and learn together. We actively encourage taking what you learn and applying it to day to day life. Changing the way we live, one person, one family at a time, becoming people and families of the future and guardians of our wonderful planet Earth.

Our first Earth School Staffordshire Moorlands session will be with the lovely Jodie Walker at Brown Edge Community Allotment on Sunday 21st September at 11am. The title for this session is ‘Living off the Land.’ Jodie will guide us on how we can make a move towards self sufficiency even as we approach the Autumn. She has over a decade of experience and knowledge in establishing and maintaining community allotment spaces and growing her own to feed her family, all based on no dig and organic principles. She is a wealth of knowledge! We visited her in April this year and learnt sooooo much. I really can’t wait to be back.
Growing your own food is such an empowering experience as you take charge and know EXACTLY what you are putting in your body. Plus there are the benefits of reducing waste through packaging and reducing your carbon footprint and the good old feeling of satisfaction when you look at your plate and taste the goodness that you have nurtured and grown with your very own hands! In my opinion, home grown definitely tastes better too! You don’t need an allotment or a big garden. There will be ideas that everyone can take away, no matter even if it’s just a window box or small planter that you have.
Everyone is welcome to this session - individual adults and families with children aged 5-16. It’s a hands on learning experience so bring your spades and your note books and let’s learn and share our knowledge together.
Thank you to everyone who showed interest in our next year Yoga retreats. Our first weekend together for 2026 will be in January in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales where we will be exploring ‘Finding Your True North.’ It sold out in record timing - in just 1 hour all the places were taken! If you forgot to let me know that you are interested in coming along to a Yoga retreat with me, please send me an email and I’ll keep you posted with future plans first.
I hope you’re all enjoying our ‘Strong Roots’ weekly Yoga practice at the moment and you can feel those back, abdominal and pelvic floor muscles strengthening! We have a few weeks left with this practice before we shift into something Autumnal. Remember you’re welcome to come along to our daytime or evening classes any week, you don’t have to wait for a new theme to start. You’re welcome whenever you can make it.
We have a couple of offerings coming up mid September and into October - our next Following the Flow - Yoga to connect with the seasons is on Friday 19th September at 7pm where we will work with the Autumn Equinox energies and our next course of Pregnancy Yoga classes is planned in to start on Sunday 12th October for 5 weeks.
Booking is open for both so please let me know if you’d like to join us.
